I have a nvidia gt640 with the macvidcards rom i purchased for a spare mac pro to give it a flash to 141.0.0.0 and install mojave. It has the fan mounted on top of the heatsink and runs at 100% during boot and at a constant 80-90% when the drivers kick in. This gives a little whine that is at a higher pitch than the other fans and so i unplugged it (the fan i mean). The mac pci fan is still giving air flow over the (now passive) heatsink. seems just barely warm. (with the card fan plugged in its frosty) The heatsink and fan are screwed on to the card and the fan assembly is screwed on to the heatsink.

I suppose I could find a more massive , passive heatsink but i am not sure , without any monitoring software (mac fan control does not read the vid card), that its even needed. I tried running cinebench with no issues. Has anyone else done this.?
