Hello everyone, I hope you are doing great.
I'm looking for some advice regarding the PCIe slots on the 2019 Mac Pro (MacPro7,1). Specifically, I'm interested in replacing the factory-installed Apple I/O card that occupies Slot 8 — which I understand is a half-length x4 PCIe Gen 3 slot.
I have ran out of usable pcies slots and I don't really need the so called I/O card. So im Looking for recommendations of a NVMe M.2 PCIe card in that slot, ideally one that fits within the physical constraints and works reliably under macOS without requiring additional drivers or hacks. It should be bootable.
Has anyone successfully installed an NVMe adapter in Slot 8?
I know there are tons of M.2 adapter cards for full-length slots, but finding something that fits the half-length Slot 8 seems a bit tricky.
Any recommendations or photos of working setups would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance. I know you guys Rock.
