Perhaps I am taking my geekery to a whole new level, but how come there isn't any live broadcasts at bars or meetups for this iPhone event on the 9th? I've been waiting for this release event for months and around here we've made a bigger deal around smaller news.

Would love to grab a beer and talk tech for an hour or 2, thats all.

Probably because the general public isn't that enamored with the watching the media event on the 9th. Reading the synopsis is probably sufficient for most people

You could say the same about football, but perhaps you're right, people don't care enough about it.

Football games don't take place in the middle of a work day for most people. Even if people do care, they don't care enough to waste a precious vacation day on it.

Not everyone is on 9-5 hours, especially in NYC. I am with you though. I guess I'll just watch the stream from my home office like everyone else. Lame!
