My girlfriend and I are going up to NYC this upcoming weekend. Searching in the App Store, there seems to be a ton of NYC apps available for download. I'm basically looking for app suggestions that would be most useful to us while we're in the city. We will be taking public transportation to get around, so any recommendations in that regard (either free or paid) would be greatly appreciated.

"iTrans NYC" is an excellent app if you might need help with the subway.

It lets you download all the subway maps locally, and if you enter an address it will also tell you how to get there using the subway, and how long it'll take based on the subway schedules. Also, it downloads all the subway schedules locally too so you can look through them while you're in the subway even if you don't have data connection down there.

"New York Nearest Subway" not free (but available on Installous)

Uses the camera and compass so you can "see" which way to go find a close subway.

"Subway Map" (free)

Standard map of the NYC subway system. I use it just to know where subways intersect, where each stop is.
