I just went on apple.com to try to reserve an iPhone 4 and got the following message when it asked me to pick a store:

Currently, there are no reservations available. But you can still pick up an iPhone on a first-come, first-served basis at your favorite Apple Retail Store starting at 7 a.m. on June 24. And since you’ve already set up your account online, you’ll save time when you stop by the store.

I thought I was in luck when I got pas the AT&T checks...

Does this mean NYC stores are sold out for pre-order?

Which one? When I tried to select the Fifth Avenue store, I got this message "Site is down for maintenance. Please check back later." But the UWS store is still taking reservations.

[edit] All 3 stores are still accepting orders.

It got that before I even picked a store, so I think it may be nationwide.

I think you're right. The site is (finally) working right, but once you pass the pick-your-plan, pick-your-texting features, it says no more in-store reservations before I'm even able to select a store.

In Atlanta, by the way.
