NYC -- Best time to pick up reserved 4s?

I went to apple store at 8am, and it had a 2.5 hour wait for RESERVED iphone 4s purchase. Needless to say I didn't wait -- interesting there were a lot of foreigners in line

Anyone know if the line wait shortens by the end of the day since it's reservation based?
