I was a first generation iPhone owner, albeit with an unlocked iPhone but still on O2. When I went to get the iPhone 3G on Friday I had my PAYG number transferred to my contract SIM.

I ran home, activated my phone in iTunes but due to O2's masses of problems my SIM Card didn't work. So, I went back to the store and they said until my new SIM Card is activated just use my old PAYG SIM. Which I have been doing.

Now, neither works. Both are displaying "No Service". I have checked to see if something is wrong with the phone (which is actually being replaced today due to a faulty headphone/microphone jack), but there isn't (I tried out another O2 SIM and that worked).

So I am at a bit of a loss at the moment, I don't actually have a phone to use more of an iBrick.

I was wondering if anyone else is having this situation?

This was a huge problem in the states on launch day. Keep you new SIM in the phone and keep connecting it to iTunes untill it finishes up the registration. The activation server should be fully functional by now.

My phone activated fine, it is my SIM that isn't working.

I called O2, they said it is there fault and will be sorted by 9 PM. :p
