I'm going to buy an iPhone this week, and will almost certainly have to pay a deposit (if I'm accepted at all).

I just wanted to know, is the deposit always £100? And after you've paid it, how long does it take to activate? Do you have to phone them to pay it, or is it just done in iTunes?

Thanks!

As long as you have enough on your credit/debit card to actually buy the phone Apple/O2/Carphone Warehouse will have no problem selling it to you. No credit checks are done in store, its all done over the internet with iTunes.

I know that, I'm talking about when I'm activating.

No, some people get a conditional yes, and are asked for a deposit.

O2 carries out a "credit check" as part of the activation process and depending on the credit check results, you may be asked to pay a deposit in order to activate your iPhone. This deposit will be retained by O2 for three months and then returned, provided all your bills are paid on time.
