O2 wont let the early upgraders (i.e. those coming from the 3GS) get the full refund promised.

they will only let you switch to a different handset. If i stay loyal to apple this is what it means..

I have paid £249 to go from a 3GS 16GB with a year left on my contract, to a 3GS 16GB with 2 years left on my contract.

That is so ridiculous, and I am not happy.

Why would anybody in their right mind take O2 up on that early upgrade offer? I had a 3GS on launch day and it would have cost me £200 to buy out the contract and then whatever the iPhone 4 cost.

Instead I bought one from Apple and sold my 3GS for £240 to O2 recycle. £260 for an iPhone 4 and still a year to run on an unlimited data contract.

As the saying goes, "That's the way to do it!" :)
