I bought my iPhone from O2 online directly. As there are more CPW stores near me than O2 stores, I thought I could/would just go to a CPW store tomorrow to try and get an iPhone 3G.

I just spoke to both O2 and CPW customer services to see if this was possible, and they both said the same thing:

If you didnt buy your iPhone from CPW (i.e. you got it directly from O2), then you cant upgrade to an iPhone 3G in a CPW store. You have to go to an O2 store.

Whilst this may seem a bit obvious, there is no mention of it on O2's site. They just say that if youre an existing O2 customer, you have to go to an O2 or CPW store.

Has anyone else been told different?

I purchased my original iPhone from O2 and have been told that I CAN upgrade at CPW tomorrow. I hope I don't get there any find that they can't upgrade me.
