Yep its definatley edge. Got a full bar of reception at the mo aswell, dunno if that helps the speed?!

i got 205kbps

no wifi.. just on gprs/edge or something like that

ok, i'm not on o2, but t-mobile uk

at work..

EDIT:

Just re-did the test and I got 277kbps!!!!

I'll call BS on this too.

Much as I would love to think I was getting in the 400s, I thought the theoretical max was 385. Recent checks were 546(!!!) 427 282 367 and 457. Surely that's a bit OTT. (I tried to clear any cache by going through a dozen or so pages before testing again. Don't really know whether the phone caches any web sites.)

Mind you I'm only 100m away from three o2 transmitters. 2 GSM and a UTMS.

i think it's overoptimistic. as you say the maximum i supposed to be 384. makes me wonder what i'm really getting when it gives me 54!

These results are almost entirely bogus. Look at the page, it loads of JPG image it must be using that to measure time of a known file size. However... O2 (and likely other networks) intercept and recode JPG files to make them load faster... making the file size smaller.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/3B48b Safari/419.3)

I tested on that new site and got 125kbps for a GPRS connection. Good if it's accurate, but I have my doubts.

i just went tested mine on the i.dslr.net one when i was in an edge area and got 86. i don't think i'm getting EDGE because i'm on pay and go.
