Hey guys

I was looking at the O2 Ireland Website for the 3g Iphone

http://www.o2online.ie/wps/wcm/connect/O2/Home/Shop/Phones/iPhone/

Its being advertised as €299 ($462) for the 8gb model. I could of sworn I heard Steve Jobs say that it would not cost more than $199 (€128) worldwide??

Can anyone clear this up for me? Did i misunderstand what he said? Or is this just another example of us thick paddys gettin ripped off by our sham of an economy??

Any opinions would be appreciated.

I might be wrong, but most of the photos and specifications on the site there look like they're for the EDGE iPhone, despite the fact that the release date lines up with the 3G model.

That looks to be it, if you click the banner at the top you will see the annoucment of the 3G iPhone and some ideas about the costs

iPhone 3G will offer faster browsing speeds on the move over O2’s HSDPA network. It will be available in an 8GB model and a 16GB model. The 8GB iPhone 3G will cost just €49 on the €100 monthly iPhone tariff, €99 on the €65 tariff and €169 on the €45 tariff. The 16GB iPhone 3G will cost €129 on the €100 monthly tariff option, €169 on the €65 tariff and €229 on the €45 tariff. All iPhone tariffs include anytime minutes, texts and a 1GB data bundle.

i work with a certain mobile retailer in ireland. I think we were told that the iphone will start at €49 or maybe €149 i could not hear what was being said on the phone properly. I am pretty sure that it is €49 though
