Hi guys,
I am going to the US on holiday soon and wanted to ask some advice about roaming. We're only going for two weeks, but will be spending a week in San Francisco and a week in New York.
Q1. I have a standard, non-jailbroken pre-pay O2 iPhone 3G. I am assuming the iPhone will spend most of the time on AT&T, is this right?
Q2. In the UK, we can use public wireless hotspots - both on The Cloud, and BT Openzone - free of charge as part of the pre-pay package. Will I be able to use similar public wi-fi in the US?
Q3. I am aware that data roaming will cost a fortune, and intend to keep this switched off while I'm abroad - is there any other gotchas I need to consider? I'm not intending to purchase a local SIM for such a short period (if I can even use one in this handset), and will rely on hotel wi-fi if O2 doesn't have any agreements with public wi-fi providers.
Many thanks for your help!
Cheers
Mark
