i got the new macbook air on tuesday i think it was and the fan has not come on once on me. i have been getting great battery life, at one point 15hours. but for sure i get 12hrs
I have the i5/4GB/128GB SSD, it is mega fast

Is 4gb enough? I'm planning to go to the mall to pick up a base model, can you multitask without lagging? what programs do you usually have open?
I typically have a few dozen Safari tas open, mail, Hulu or Youtube, Pages, Skype etc., and I don't get many page outs. It doesn't lag on a computer without an SSD,so it would be even better on a MBA.

I normally have, skype always open, 4-5 tabs on safari, mail, i had facetime going there for about an hour, and was able to flick about no laging at all. the Idle on these new haswell cpu's chips are amazing.
4GB is more then enough for me. 8GB would have lots spare, when i check what i have left outta the 4 i normally have 2GB-1.5 or so free RAM. and that is me doing the most i would ever be doing on this.
as i say, i have yet to even hear the Fan come on. i copyed 5000 songs today and it still didnt come on. i think the fan is there only for turbo boost when, these Haswell cpus must be able to run nearly with out a fan.

For me it only ever game in during gaming in boot camp, not even during iTunes converting songs to 128 in maverick did it come on. On my 2011 it would have been on for sure
maverick? do you have it, i thought it was not out yet?
what do you mean it came on in maverick?
is there anything else your fan has came on when tasking?
i wonder will the battery life get even better in mavericks when its out and installed on the new Macbook Airs (haswell) i am already getting 12hr min.
So you have a 4GB model? I just read that the HD 5000 reserves 1GB of system memory so I'm still not sure what I'm going to do.
No, MBP with 4GB. Upgrading to a 13" rMBP this year. 1GB RAM is a lot of memory reserved for the GPU (25%). That would be a deciding factor to get 8 if I were to buy a MBA today.

I guess I'm going to run to BB and just return it. Sucks, I was looking forward to having a new MBA.
