Understanding this isn't very 'real world', I know some people enjoy this:
Base Machine: 3.33ghz Hex Core Mac Pro w/3gb of 1333 Ram, 32-bit Kernel

Base machine + 160 OWC SSD + 16gb OWC 1333 Ram:
Of course nothing is simple. Did the install here @ the house, and the icy-dock I got for the SSD did not allow it to work in any HD Bay. I tried the remaining 3 HD bays and it wouldn't work. The OS wouldn't recognize the disc at all in the Disk utility.
The SSD was seated firmly in the Dock, and the tray was firmly locked into the bays? Not sure what went on with this..
So I had to improvise and put it in the second optical bay. I thought I had the Optical Tray seated far enough back, went to close the Mac Pro side lid, and in the process broke the locking Latch.
Always something.
