And thank you to those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. And to the families who lost someone in combat, my respect goes out to all of you!

Oh yeah, I forgot to say "unofficial start of summer"
Side note: It annoys me when people say "happy" Memorial Day. Oh, your son died. In Iraq? Happy Memorial Day!
Anyway, very grateful for those who put themselves in harms way to protect us.
Are we forbidden from wishing someone a Happy Memorial Day if their son is alive and well?
Memorial Day is for veterans who died...
Happy Veterans Day is appropriate.
Memorial day is the day my daughter died. She wasn't a vet. So is the day only supposed to be for vets who died? Because I surely am not going to disrespect my daughter's life just so other vets who have fallen can have theirs.
BL.

No, I'm not saying that. Just pointing out that there's nothing "happy" about what Memorial Day is about.
There can be plenty that's "happy" about the observation. Memorial Day was never intended as a national day of moping around and being miserable all day.
