This morning I had some buffering issues on my ATV 3 so I had to unplug my HDMI cable and or restart my unit and it started to buffer correctly again. Not sure what the fix was, but I have had this problem before. Is this an issue with the ATV 3? It does not do this often but every now and then. I do not need the app store, nor the other features of the newer units as mine works just fine for my needs. However if it starts to not work properly then I will be forced to upgrade. I hope it does not come to this.

I have not experienced this issue, but I have seen in multiple threads that people have been having issues since the last update that Apple has put out.

People are complaining about Wifi drops, buffering issues, and other connection related stuff.

I am not sure when/if Apple will come out with another ATV3 update, but hopefully They will.

Have you ever seen a computer that doesn't need a health reboot every now and then? ATV never shuts down, only sleeps unless you make a habit of unplugging it when not in use.

good point.
Judging from the OP's post, I was thinking that the issue would happen days or a few weeks after restarting, but I guess the time in between occurrences was never mentioned.

I go many months without restarting my ATV3, and do not have issues, but the occasional restart of any electronic device is usually recommended.

I did reboot it.

I did reboot it.

And that is probably what fixed it for you.

There is a reason Tier 1 support and user guides for any product or service suggest you reboot before trying any troubleshooting. Restarting everything fresh probably fixes 90% of the issues we all have with various devices.

That is so true! I restart my iPhone at least twice a week or it does weird things etc. So true that you should with the Apple TV :)

could be just a coincidence at the time. Is this on Wi-Fi?
