I wasn't able to see a Australia / New Zealand delivery and preorder thread so I thought I would start one. I know we have a few lurking Aussies & Kiwis around.
Here in New Zealand we have the added benefit of being 16 hours ahead of the United States east coast. The few who are lucky to receive launch day deliveries will receive them almost a full day ahead of most in America!
For this reason I strongly believe the first wave of shipments to Oceania are already on the way from China.
This year I ordered the 14 directly from my carrier Vodafone New Zealand online. Having previously worked for Vodafone during the last couple of releases it is next to impossible to get an in store pickup. You are unable to reserve a spot and its purely on a first come first served basis. With stores lucky to be allocated a few dozen units for release day.
Unfortunately, this means I will not receive confirmation that I managed to get a release day batch until the day before release. Units will be delivered in bulk to my provider then allocated tracking for overnight courier the day before. Although I have high hopes as I managed to place my order 2 minutes after pre orders opened.
In previous years my local delivery driver has dropped off at 6:30am so it will be an early wake up for me on Friday all going well.
Has anyone ordered directly from Apple this year and what's your current status?
