I used OpenCore Patcher 2.2. Target disk is formatted as APFS with GUID partition and 2TB free space. Looks like 2017 iMac uses Broadcom BCM4360 wifi.

Issues:

  1. In the first choose EFI window, the wifi is ok, when went to install macos sequoia window, the WIFI not working anymore (did not find my wifi).
  2. The installation failed with copy files, rebooted always on around 11 or 12 minutes left, please see below images. Tried to build the installation usb with another USB disk got same issue, tried at least 7 times.

Your iMac supports Ventura natively. Boot back into Ventura or, if you haven't updated to Ventura, do that first. In Ventura, open System Information app and check firmware. Your 2017 iMac should have latest firmware 529.140.2.0.0. If it does not, make sure you are updated to the latest version of Ventura.

Welcome to the world of Opencore patching. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. If you have plenty of time to spare, you can struggle with it for weeks. Otherwise, or if you need the iMac for anything important, stick with Ventura, which has a lot of life left.

@bericher118 Are you booting Ventura from internal or external storage? Are you attempting to install OCLP Sequoia on internal or external storage?

Boot Ventura from internal (default ssd), tried to install to an external SSD, not want to replace the existing Ventura internal ssd.
Thx for reply.

I checked the external ssd, there is this file:

/Volumes/Macos15/macOS Install Data/UpdateBundle/AssetData/Restore$ ls -l BaseSystem.chunklist
-rw-r--r-- 2 ** staff 4.7K Feb 4 13:46 BaseSystem.chunklist

I am not sure if SIP related:
