Friends, am hoping someone here has experienced this...

I can successfully Create macOS Installer for Ventura. At the Build and Install OpenCore step, I get: Volume on disk3s1 failed to mount - If you think the volume is supported (I do) but damaged (it isn't), try the "readOnly" option. (how would I subvert the OCLP mount command to make it 'readOnly'?)

In any case, as a result, I cannot build a Ventura OCLP Install USB. The attached images show that OCLP is finding the EFI 'volume' on the USB stick, post installer step, but I cannot finish the build.

this is: OCLP 2.4.1, building installer on an iMac 11,1 (in Safe Mode) for a target of MacBookPro 5,3. Any help is appreciated. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, which many of you have experience with! Help! I'm really in a bind.

iMac 11,1 (in Safe Mode).. but host version of macOS? What type of USB media? External HDD? External SSD? External flash drive? OCLP can be a little finicky sometimes with external USB media. Suggest you try different media.

These are Kingston Traveler USB sticks. In fact, I've installed (much) older versions of OCLP on them in the past, just to test out the build process - and had no problem. I hadn't yet tried an actual install of OCLP...

The Settings 'Target Model' is MBP 5,3. I am building all this on an iMac 11,1 - yes, in safe mode, as I have a damaged video card. The 11,1 is the ultimate project - but for another day.

Build and Install does identify the EFI 'file' - as my paste shows. So it doesn't seem like a fundamental USB problem (does it?)

The oddity is there is no slice1 on the stick - at least visible from disktools or similar. Does the installer create slice1 from the EFI?

Again, I appreciate any thought experiments.

What version of macOS? High Sierra 10.13.6? Did you create the installer USB media using OCLP, or create the installer USB manually yourself using createinstallmedia ?

I have created the installer both ways; have tried createInstallmedia also see if this approach made any difference. For this test, I've created the installer USB media using OCLP. Both approaches work perfectly (in making the installer).

With either 'create' approach, the Build and Install OpenCore step behaves identically. Install to disk identifies an EFI partition(?) on the correct disk - disk3, but on slice1; ie, disk3s1 (EFI). Then the message: Volume on disk3s1 failed to mount. disktools does not display any slice 1 on disk3, if this matters?

I'm trying Ventura at this point, but get the same results trying Sonoma, e.g. Doesn't seem to be related to the version of macOS.

Not sure where the dissonance is but will be explicit... What version of macOS on the iMac 11,1 (Safe Mode)?

Catalina 10.15.7 - a dosDude install. Yes; running in Safe Mode because its original video card has become flaky. Part of what I am hoping to move beyond, in Phase II of all this... (I have purchased a WX4130 toward this end.)

If it helps, I do any number of USB installer and other software writes to these Kingston sticks; they've been very reliable.

#Bigwaff - OK, first, Thank You for your efforts to help! OK, I was able to borrow an M2 MacBook tonight, and the Build and Install stop now runs without a hitch. So I think we can chalk this up to something idiosyncratic to the dosDude Catalina/iMac 11,1 combination - perhaps related to USB versions? Dunno.

Though I can now get the EFI selected, and the Ventura Installer booted, I have a new problem: Install halts on a flashing Magic Mouse / Keyboard images. I did turn on a Magic Mouse nearby; no joy. Also does not recognize a USB keyboard...
