I was thinking to purchase the Vector 256GB for my 2011 MBP (SATA III)
As we all know, its competitor, Samsung 840 Pro is very famous as well.

The thing is Im not a huge fan of Samsung and their product.
Didnt have really great experiences with them in the past.

I was committed to buy the Vector but the price is extremely high on it.
Even at B&H or Amazon, the retail price is higher on the 840P yet still less expensive than the Vector.

So I decided to look at the Samsung as well and leave the hatred behind.
Performance wise, what do you guys think?

Vector vs 840 Pro, which would be more reliable, more faster, and more stable?
Cost performance wise, probably the 840.
But would the $60+ price tag give me more advantage on the Vector?

Users who had experience with 840 or Vector, please tell me the pros and cons with your MBP.

Thanks in advance.

IMHO, go for the Samsung Pro, I have two of them and they are awesome!

the samsung 830 is what apple supplies in the MBP - a tried and tested SSD

I have various ssds back from the 1st gen ocz vertex days, and despite the negative press ocz received a few years back, i love my ocz products.
I am currently using ocz vertex 3 240 max iops - 90% full, and still blistering fats (read 510mbs, write 420mbs)

never experienced a slowdown, or system freeze (in mountain lion, lion was awful at first)

So back to you question, both products are very good
both companies have had a ?-mark over ethics and morality

I would go for the cheapest imo!

Thanks for the input!
The discounted price on 256GB 840P is around 220USD while Vector is around 290USD.
I did say I will leave hatred behind but it still touches inside me.
I mean I dont want to have the drive fail on me and lose all my data.
Have you heard of any horror stories of the 2 drives?

I have the Samsun 840 250GB, non-pro - and I'm absolutely loving it.

Wise choice. You can get that drive on Amazon for for $169.

OP>> Honestly, unless you run a benchmark test for speeds, you won't be able to tell the difference in speed among any of these newer drives in normal usage. Just save the money and go with the non-pro Samsung 840. Many users on the forums use this drive and I have not noticed and trend in problem reports.

See post #9 in this thread for a recommendation from user Hellhammer. He writes SSD reviews for Anandtech.

Actually I do intensive writes...
Thats why I wanted a fast drive.
My 8months old SSD is already becoming slow due to the extensive writes I do on.
