UPS showed up at 5:20 with my new SSD. :)

I assumed the packaging was going to be bigger, it doesn't need to be any bigger, but thought it would be like back in the day where a CD came in a huge box or something lol.

Sexy little drive, not really much to say about it. It is what it is, and it's not like you're going to really see it ever. And just for fun, here's the mounting bracket.

I have a mid 2010 13", pulled the OEM 250GB 5400RPM Hitachi. It just looks right with the OCZ in there, nice and clean; 8GB of RAM is on the way, and I'm strongly thinking about an optibay. Not sure if I would go with an 5400RPM 1TB, or a 7200RPM 750GB; since it would just be for media, I'm thinking I'm better off going with the 1TB.

I did a clean install of 10.6(I haven't run any updates yet, so still 10.6.3), and here are AJA and Xbench results.

AJA:

here's a video comparing a HDD to my new SSD
Left: Mid 2010 13", 2.66GHz, 4GB 1067 RAM, 5400rpm 320GB "Apple" HD
Right: Mid 2010 13" 2.4GHz, 4GB 1067 RAM, OCZ Vertex 3 120GB

But, by far, the best part of getting an OCZ SSD is:

making me want one so much more, looks so good in that bay. congrats.

one question though, why a SATA III drive? if you've got a 2010 MBP, it only does SATA II

Thanks, if you have the money DO IT. You won't regret it.

My question is; why not? :p

When I ordered from NewEgg is was only like $50 difference, and it's even less now, like $20.

Even though I'll be getting similar speeds to a Vertex 2 (I've tried looking for an AJA benchmark of a 120GB V2 I can compare to but can't find any? I know they're out there I just can't find them, I suck at using the Googles apparently), it can't hurt having a next gen SandForce controller(2281 vs. 1200), along with all the other tech in the drive being newer can't be bad. Who likes buying last years stock? Like why buy a 2011 car when the 2012's are out??

Anyway, this thing is FASTTTT. All the hype about the Vertex's speed is true; it goes HAM. I'm going to get everything tweaked and set to my likings and all my programs reinstalled today(I CCC'd my old HDD just in case), and I can't wait to see how fast it installs stuff like M$ Office, iWork, and CS5.5.

Yes, this was weak sauce.
I have no idea what that means; do they have it at Buffalo Wild Wings? Is it below mild?

Sauce is short for source, used in places like 4chan to ask where the original source of the photo is from. It has probably evolved to mean other things now, or people over use it because they think it makes them cooler.

Xbench score on 7,1 with a 2.66GHz C2D, 4GB, 320GB 5400rpm: 131.44
Xbench for my 7,1 with a 2.4GHz C2D, 4GB(for now), 120GB Vertex 3: 203.23

:D
