hi all, i bought an ocz vertex 4 256gb last night for $159 because i thought it was a good deal. after doing some reading today I see alot of people do not like ocz ssd drives and think they are garbage. I am looking for opinions from everyone as to whether i should cancel it and find something else or stick with it. Today I found a samsung 840 256gb for $139 shipped and iam wondering if i should pick it up instead, keep what i ordered, or wait and see what else comes along. any help would be appreciated...

vertex 4 is FAST!
Samsung 840 (non pro edition) uses TLC nand (new type). Personally I would not buy it because it seems to have reliability issues. (the 840 pro is currently the best SSD but is quite expensive).

I would buy the samsung 830 if i could. Its a bit slower than the vertex 4 but seems to be slightly more reliable.

The problem with the vertex 4 is the high power consumption. Not really a factor in desktops but in notebooks it can cut down on battery life.

Idle power consumption is important here, load not so much since SSD's spend so much time at idle.

Im thinking to upgrade from M4 to V4.
Can you guys tell me the performance?

The M4 is a pretty good drive, save for the lower write speeds. I don't think you'd notice a difference upgrading to a faster drive unless you're constantly writing to it.

Are you having problems with it?

I do use the drive a lot requiring write.
Im not really having a problem but I dont mind upgrading to a faster drive for couple hundred dollars if its good.
