I'm seeing some strange stuff going on with my battery. I noticed yesterday that the battery time meter in my menu bar said 10 hours.

System Profiler and coconutBattery confirm that something is odd.

I've reset the SMU twice (shutdown, remove battery, hold power button for 5 seconds) and it keeps coming back.

Anyone know what is going on?

Thanks for your help.

Try calibrating the battery. Also, while you're doing that, test to see how long it actually lasts. I know it couldn't possibly last 10 hours, but still. I'm curious.

I just unplugged it and it's back to normal.

I think I'll let it run out overnight to calibrate it. If it keeps doing it I'll give AppleCare a call and get a new battery.

I want your battery... that's 10x it's rated capacity. I would also try a SMC reset - nevermind.

If it continues to show around a 10x higher charge capacity than it's rated for then I would bring it in to the Apple store for a battery swap as this one is obviously malfunctioning.

I called Apple on Monday, they wanted me to send it in.

I got the box Tuesday, sent it out Tuesday, and got it back this morning.

They swapped out the logic board and battery.

I restored my SuperDuper! backup and all appears to be good.

Great customer service, very, very well done.
