I have AIDente on my MacBook Pro 16 (M1) and my MacBook Pro 14 (M4). I find that sometimes when I plug it in and leave it overnight, I come back the next morning and find the charging light is orange. Fine I think, it has stopped charging at 80% as set, however when I open the lid, I find it has not charged at all and is about 15%, where it was when I put it away. Not I can't use it until it charges. In the meantime the MBP16 has gone to 100%, instead of stopping at 80%. Am I doing something wrong here? Are there some setting I need to adjust? Thanks all.

Make sure you have Apple’s battery management feature turned off if you use AlDente.

Get rid of the app and let macOS manage the battery. Battery technology today is good enough that you don’t need to worry about managing the charging.
I’m tempted to do this. I just replaced the battery in my wife’s (2015) MBA. Simple and not expensive. But since I have the app, might as well see if I can get it to work properly.

Take a look at their website. It does a good job of explaining the features and will give you a good idea whether or not you wish to turn on a particular feature.

I find its sleep options confusing, but re-reading your OP I think you may want to use "Disable Sleep until Charge Limit" (available in paid version of the app only?).
I have the paid version. I checked and this setting was off. It is on now, so I'll see what happens. Hopefully no other issues. Thanks.
