I have a 2019 15" MacBook Pro. I use it most of the time plugged into the power adaptor.
A couple of days ago I was using it and I got the low battery warning, which I thought odd as it was plugged into the power adaptor.
I pulled the power cable out of the thunderbolt port on the Mac and plugged it in again, it didn't start charging, so I unplugged the entire power adaptor and replugged but still no luck.
Now this is where it gets weird, If I unplug the charging cable from the actual power brick and plug it back in, it will start to charge and run off of mains power, if I then unplug and replug the cable at the Macs port it will not charge or run from mains power, as soon as I pull the cable out of the power brick and replug it all works as it should.
I have tried all the ports on the Mac and also used both ends of the charging cable but the problem persists.
I hope I have explained the issue well enough for everyone to understand.
Any ideas what is causing this issue?

Thanks

Did you try another cable? Not sure why it would work from one side and not the other but my first instinct is that the cable has a problem.
