Have a 24 in iMac 2008 model. If the computer is powered up odd display is shown as if part of the signal is missing.

I have replaced the LVDS cable and have the same issue. At this point I chalked it up to damaging the lcd display when I took it out (to swap out hard drive).

I left it alone during a phone call and came back to power it off and when it woke up the display was as it should be. ---that makes no sense to me

I have hooked up an external screen and the screen on the second monitor and in mirrored mode look normal ---I assume that rules out the logic/display board.

I am currently wiping and putting a new install of 10.8 on it. Will update and mark resolved if that clears it up. Not that I think it will as it looks screwy at the post/boot with the apple in the center and in recovery boot.

SMC and PRAM have been reset.

Has anyone ever seen this behavior ? will post a pic if reinstall does not resolve.
