odd iBook damage

I just bought a used iBook G3 (500mhz). It works fine but the case is in bad shape. There are some strange lines by the Apple logo that looks to be right in the plastic. I was just wondering what they could be and if there is a way to fix it.

Just get a new top plastic part for it. Like, thirty bucks.

California has a good point, if you can replace the cover for minimal cost you can make your iBook look spiffy. I would imagine over time the replacement parts will become more scarce and pricey.
