Odd Installer Behavior....help

So I have installer on 1.1.2 . I have a bunch of apps installed and every-time i install something and sync my phone the "other: portion increases in size so i know it recognizes my installation of apps. I have 2.1 gigabytes left and installer has recently told me that I do not have much room left and need to delete photos, music, or videos...Why would it say this with 2.1 gigs left?
