I got a new iPad Mini a few months ago and I noticed that it's doing something really weird and it annoys the heck out of me. When I'm on my iMac and using Firefox to watch a Youtube video a tab opens in Safari on the iPad. This also happens with some non Youtube websites.
Is there any way of stopping this from happening?

Thanks.

I believe there’s a setting for that on the iPad. There is on the iPhone using ios26. It says to “open tab on Mac”. But the reverse might also be true. Anyway, check with Apple Support on line. It’s not a glitch - it’s a setting on one device or the other. Apple buries these settings. Good luck.

Here’s what I found. So your devices are evidently set up for iCloud tabs. To undo, change both devices so that safari is not enabled for synching.

How to use iCloud Tabs
  1. Sign in to iCloud: Ensure both your Mac and iPad are signed in with the same Apple ID.
  2. Enable Safari in iCloud: Go to your iCloud settings on both devices and make sure that Safari is enabled for syncing.
  3. View tabs on your iPad: In Safari on your iPad, tap the Tabs button (which looks like two overlapping squares). Then, scroll to the bottom to see a section that lists the tabs currently open on your Mac.
  4. Open the tab: Tap on the Mac tab you want to open, and it will load on your iPad.

I never heard of iCloud tabs.
I searched on "disabling iCloud tabs" and after several failed solutions I finally found one that worked. It was three simple steps including a reboot of the iPad.
Thanks all for the tips.
