I have a Volkswagen e-Golf that is CarPlay capable. I have an iPhone 6 with the latest iOS updates and so does my wife. When I connect my phone via the lightning cable to the car, I need to manually go through the settings in the car to access CarPlay. My wife simply plugs in her iPhone and CarPlay launches automatically. I can't for the life of me figure out why the difference.

Anyone have any ideas?

On your phone under settings carplay is your car listed? Not sure if this an issue but car should show up. I have normally no issues with my Jetta but occasionally it makes me do the setup with the car. Not noticed any pattern as to when. Do you remember if your wife's phone was the first one set up with your e-golf? Not sure if any of this is issue but just thinking about my experience.
