Hey everyone,
I recently installed Windows 7 after wiping my older XP install. Everything went ok and I used the updated HD audio realtek drivers from their website.
However now I notice that the microphone is always on. If I move my hand over the part of the grill where the microphone is located it makes a high pitched screech. If I mute the speakers it goes away.
I also played around with the microphone settings and gain. If I turn it down the screech will go away, but I can hear through the speakers the microphone picking up noise.
Muting the microphone does nothing to stop it. I still get the screech and pick up from the on board mic.
I also had this problem once in Mac OS X when I had a piece of paper on the keyboard. The machine screeched and made me jump
Any solutions to this problem?
