I am getting an odd problem on my late 2012 27" iMac (3.4GHz i7) running Yoesemite, latest 10.10.1, bought as soon as the new models came out end 2012.
I noticed recently that every now and then there is a high-pitched noise from the machine (I have 58 year-old ears, so this my be quite loud to a teenager) on top of what I can only describe as a radio static-like noise, or what you used to hear when TV shut down for the night. It stops as suddenly as it starts, not like the noise of hard-drive or fan starting up. I could not identify any particular trigger, but these must be software related as nothing else was being used at the time, but today I noticed that a couple of Notifications (one for iMessage, then one for Mail) seemed to start it.
Any ideas or similar experiences? It makes me glad I bought this with Applecare, but it is a big beast to carry to the Apple store.
Best,
Keith
