I have an aluminum macbook, from made around January 09. The issue is i need to repair the hdd using the osx install disc. The problem is that when I try to do so, boot using the disc, it just restarts to the hdd, it will not boot from the disc. i try holding c and i have tried setting the disc as the startup disc and it just goes in this never ending circle of restarting and restarting. i've never seen this before so any help would be appreciated.

Not booting from CD...

Have you tried holding the "Option" key when booting - it should bring up all of your bootable options.

This is the method used for booting up Boot Camp.

yes that was the first thing i tried. everytime i select the disc, it reboots and goes straight to the hdd.

well i just tried yet another OSX disk, and finally got it to boot from the disk. i have no idea why it didn't work on the first 2 i tried, but this one it did. hopefully i can repair the hdd and fix my issue.
