Context: I'd installed snow leopard a couple days ago and everything went smooth, before and after. Yesterday I installed VMware and booted winXP to use visual studio for my programming class. I can recall now through lesson that during one of the restarts in the process I saw the apple/question mark/folder flash once but still recognized the HD and booted OSX (I didn't know what it meant at the time).
This morning in class, the MB was unable to recognize OSX and was stuck on the white apple screen with the occasional flashing question mark and circle with a slash. Came home to diagnostic and found out my HD was failing the smart tests.
Being the only computer I have available 24/7 and a student had to fix it so went and bought a new HD, had a 4gig ram upgrade just come in too so threw that in during. Booted Leopard and everything is fine, better than normal.
Ok so now, I'm pretty much babying this thing knowing how much heartache can come when something goes wrong. I was typing earlier today and noticed a buzzing/rubbing sound when I reached up for the "delete" key with my right pinky. It wasn't the key but the pressure my palm puts on the area right below the directional keys.
Knowing I'd just replaced the HD, I took it back out and ensured tight fit on screws and everything. So far it seems to have stopped but definitely not going to ignore it. Anyone have any ideas?
/edit I just realized I've posted in the Macbook Pro subforum...
