Odd Safari and iTunes recent behaviour on my cMP

In the last few days I have noticed an odd behaviour in a few apps on my classic 5,1 MacPro (10.13.6) - on some websites Safari will start scrolling the whole page right to left at a slow speed and in iTunes now if I try to click on a field on any song, whether name or genre, it just flashes yellow and then goes back to normal black text not allowing me to amend anything although if I go to info via right click I can alter what I like. Any ideas ?

That almost sounds like an input device malfunction with your trackpad or mouse. I've heard of situations where someone has weird effects like you're describing, and then it later turns out that they set a book or something on a second pointing device (mouse or trackpad) that they didn't realize was still connected to the computer through Bluetooth or even USB. I would suggest checking to see what exactly is connected via Bluetooth and USB, and perhaps try a different mouse.
