Over the last two days I have noticed my macbook pro making a odd sound. It is not the sound of the HD stabilizer, so no confusion here. The sound occurs very little and just once or twice

Sound- maybe like a wrapper twisting or a shock sound. I am not sure why it is doing this or if its normal.

Never dropped it no marks system is perfect.

I'm no expert but it doesn't sound right to me - be sure and keep your data backed up just in case, you never know....

Is there any way to take a recording of the sound?

I imagine it could be a couple of things:

1. The hard drive is going bad, or
2. There is something stuck in the fan or the fan is bad.

Those are the only moving components in the MacBook Pro.
Some of the older iBooks used to have a "shock" sound or a hissing, but that was caused by the inverter board for the LCD. The 2010 should be a LED backlit display which won't have that noise.
