Hello all. I'm preparing my cMP4,1 for resale, and I'm running into an odd issue.
First, the stats on the 4,1:
1x 6-core 2.93Ghz Xeon (X5670)
2x 8GB ADATA 1333mhz ram [slots 1&2] (slots 0&3 are empty per the Lion memory advisor)
1x Geforce GT 8800 512MB [slot 1] (6-pin plugged into port "A")
1x Hitachi 1TB 32MB cache rotational HDD with Apple firmware (OS X El Capitan) [bay 4]
1x Seagate 1TB 32MB cache rotational HDD (Lion & Win 7 Pro x64) [bay 3]
The 8800 is dual-DVI with mac EFI. It's connected to my Samsung 4k monitor via a DVI-to-HDMI cable. I don't think it matters, but I'm using the USB aluminum keyboard with a USB magic mouse.
When running Windows or Lion, everything is fine. When booting to El Capitan, it tries to push 4k, and I get a black screen with a tiny mouse cursor after the normal apple gray boot screen with progress bar. The cursor will not escape an invisible box in the upper-left corner that I assume is a 1080p window. If I run in single-user mode (hold down shift at chime), it boots the desktop to 4k, and I can use the system prefs to reset it to 1080p. After rebooting, I'm back to the black screen.
Ideas?
