What are the odds that if a new MBP or MB is announced tomorrow that it will be available tomorrow in the Apple stores? I'm not familiar with their typical policy.

Thanks

if anounced

if it is announced tomorrow it will be in stores tomorrow!!!!
they wouldn't announce it and not have it ready to go in the stores....... silly

According to ingadet, no MBPs announcement tomorrow.

When the original Aluminum MacBook Unibody models came the local Apple store didn't have them till the next day.

Conventional wisdom suggests that though refreshed MBs and/or MBPs might well be in the wings (and dont forget the Mac Pro), announcements of anything other than the tablet and its attendant iPhone OS or iTunes updates will get drowned out in the response to the tablet. Instead, I would expect to see these slip out in a routine Tuesday announcement.

Its a bummer as I am about to change jobs and need to place an order to ensure I have something in hand when I return my current unit to my old employers.

I'm going with TUAW's suggestion..That there will be

Blah mac sales roundup
Announcement of new MBP's
Blah iPhone/iPod sales
Announcement of iPhone OS 4
Tablet reveal

If they were going to do a Tuesday rollout, they'd have done it yesterday.

We haven't had a "many large boxes labelled 'Do not open until Jan 27th' arrive at Apple Store" rumour yet.

I remember seeing the original G4 aluminum powerbooks being announced. It took several weeks to finally get the order (same as the announcement) shipped.

Current day - apple has continually delayed the new iMacs.

The bottom line: Apple does not always have the new models in stock of they do, they're not in sufficient quantities.

actually i'll be at the Apple Store right before opening time so we shall see, hahahahaha. i'm helping my bro buy a Seagate 500 GB 7200 and then helping him install it... so we're gonna be at the mall bright and early to get the stuff... ugh. but i'll stop by the apple store and ask, haha

They do it all of the time. The new iMacs weren't all ready, the new MB Air Rev Bs with HDD weren't in stores for months (only the SSD models), so yeah, they do it all of the time.

Every Mac I've ever bought has been the day they were announced, and I've always had to wait at least a month for them - in a few cases longer...

If you mean today, they won't be announced, so they won't be in stores.

"Put me on record. No MBP announcement today. If there is one, I'll eat my shirt."

ill take you to that....

i have never seen someone eat a shirt before and it would make a great you tube video.

I would strongly disagree with your signature, your question IS dumb.

How the heck are we supposed to know? Only the higher ups at apple know, and they sure as heck aren't telling us, are they? Who are WE, the general public, the consumer, to know when a product is likely to come out? We can only speculate, not give you a true answer.

Threads like yours piss me off.

I think the OP wanted to know based on past history, not what IS exactly going to happen. Whats wrong with a little speculation?

Posts like yours piss me off.

All I know is that I want a 15" Macbook Pro with a Core i7 720QM cpu. If I can't get that in the next month or two, then I will settle for a Lenovo IdeaPad Y550P for $999 with a Core i7 720QM cpu, 4GB DDR3, 500GB hard drive, and a 1GB nVidia GT240 video card.

Hey angry guy, 20 responses and only one bitter one from you. Reread the post. I was asking what the timing of availability after a product is announced , not if it would be announced.

New MBP?

Well, there is currently no delay in the current MBP shipping times so if anything (upgrade) it will be a small one.
