I've been looking to get back into a mac since selling my 2017 base mba a few years ago and that I basically own everything else Apple related. I found Luke Miani's channel recently and being a tinkerer and a PC builder/enthusiast I wanted to tackle an nvme upgrade and have a relatively good laptop. I found a mid-2015 15", 16GB ram, dual graphics, 2.5 i7 mbp with the 500GB flash storage with a new battery and no screen delamination for $550.

The ssd speeds I've been seeing are 500-700 write speeds and 1300-1500 read speeds but I checked mine today and I'm averaging 1460 write and 1850 read. I opened the back and there is no upgraded nvme. Did I get lucky or am I missing something? I bought a 1TB nvme for the project but since I won't get any speed increases I don't see a reason for it besides doubling my storage and I'd rather back up my projects on an external HD in case something happens to the mbp. (mbp is used as my entry level photography/video editing laptop and your typical laptop uses)

some brands of 1TB Nvme runs very well with Mid 2015 15" MBP.
