Hi folks,
I know there are many scattered threads on these topics, but I’m hoping I can luck out and find someone who can speak to all these queries. :)

Here goes:

My Desired Setup
MacBook Pro (Late 2011) 15"
  • 256GB SSD split between OSX10.8 and Windows 7 (via Bootcamp).
    main drive bay
  • 750GB spinning disc HD formatted as exFAT, with big libraries (iTunes, iPhoto for OSX and Steam games for Windows).
    optical drive bay

My Current Setup
  • 256GB SSD with OSX10.8.
    main drive bay
  • 750GB spinning disc HD with my former OSX install still on it, as well as Windows 7 in a Bootcamp partition.
    optical drive bay

My Questions
Some of these are definitely documented elsewhere, but I’m collating them here:
  • Currently I’ve got the SSD already installed in the main drive bay. The spinning disc is in the former optical bay. Ergo, I’m currently stuck where a lot of others have already gone before: Is there any way on this setup to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp on the SSD without reinstalling the optical drive first? I’ve read editing Bootcamp’s .plist might help with that — With the SSD already in the main bay, should I expect any further troubles?
  • Anyone forsee problems from having the spinning disc formatted exFAT? Would that preclude me from using something like Steam Mover to move games between the NTFS and exFAT partitions? The interwebs seem inconclusive on whether exFAT and NTFS can play together like this.

Thanks muchly in advance for any wisdom/advice!
