off contract iphone 5

I went to an apple store a few days ago and they told me they dont sell off contract iphone5 JUST the device, but only on contract.

but ive been reading on forums about people buying the phone unsubsidized off contract already. are they buying them somewhere else other than apple store? i am not an att/verizon customer

I think stores might not be selling them right now since supplies are limited. You can get them online off contract and should be able to get them at the apple store too. Try calling any other Apple stores in your area.
