Off contract online reservation

I have the dreaded Verizon. I have two unlimited lines and wanted to get iPhone off contract. However I am now eligible for the discounted price. I go online and all it says is go to the store but the stores have no phones with out reservations. My friend who is one day to upgrade eligibility logged on bought off contract and picked it up today. What am I missing here is there some way to get it to display the off contract price once your eligible for cheap upgrade where your sucked I to the bend over plan I am sorry I mean the shared data vomit plan.
