I have a small home network, consist of a Leopard Server, and 2 clients. One of which is a laptop, which is sometimes not on the network. I would expect it to not sync when it is off the network. But for the last few days it has been attempting to sync, it is especially bothering at login and logout. I know I can stop it, but I'd much rather for it just to not even attempt.

I should note that the server has AFP port open WAN.

Can you please elaborate on what you mean?

I should add that I do have Portable Home Directory setup on this client. My understanding is that the client should sync with the network home directory when the client is connected to the network. And it will just use the local copy when not connected to the network. I also think it shouldn't attempt to sync if it cannot find the server. Is this not the expected behavior?
