Office '07 files in iWork '07?

Would it be right to assume that the new iWork will work with the default Windows Office 2007 files? I know that the new XML files for Word and such do not work in other current versions of office suites... Perhaps this is another reason that iWork is taking so long to come out?

Well Leopards TextEdit (apparently) supports OpenXML and Apple is a known supporter of OpenXML so I'd have thought iWork '07 will at least support OpenXML, if it isn't the default format.
