Well, it is New Year's day here in Japan and I spent the last week cleaning my hard drive when I noticed that Office has two sets of "identity" files on my hard drive for 2004 and 2008. The files are located in this folder:
/Users/username/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004 Identities
/Users/username/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2008 Identities

The 2004 folder has over 600 MB of stuff in it and the 2008 folder as over 1 GB of data.

1) Can I delete the 2004 folder outright?
2) Is there a way to delete the identity from within Office software in a more "legitimate" way?
3) Anyone know what these files are for?

Thank you for your help in advance!
