I just got a MacBook, and had the Genius Bar people transfer all of my old iBook data onto my new comp. I can open and use Office programs like Word just fine, HOWEVER, if I try to open the program by opening a document directly, ie double clicking on example.doc, instead of opening Word first, a window w/ an agreement for Microsoft Office 2004 Test Drive opens up, asking me to agree to its terms. I haven't clicked agree, because I don't want my Word, that seems to work fine, to turn into some 30 day trial version. What should I do? Thanks for your help.

inside the Microsoft Office 2004 folder in the applications folder there should be a remove office application. open that and remove the trial but NOT the retail version.

I saw that there was a Microsoft Office 2004 folder and an Office for Mac 2004 Test Drive folder (which had a Remove Office app in it). I didn't do that, instead I just dragged the Test Drive folder into the trash. I then tried to open a Word document... said Word was not available, but I was able to do Open With, always open w/ Word (because I still had that app in my Microsoft Office Folder). Everything seems okay now (I left the Test Drive folder in the trash w/o emptying, just in case.

Should I be okay? Thanks for your help.

take the folder out of the trash and drag it back to your Applications folder then open the remove office application and remove the test drive. you will be fine.

i was going to suggest use always open with to get the .doc opening with Word but it looks like youve already sorted it out.
