This week I decided to reinstall OS X (something I do about once a year to clean up my HD) and installed Office 2004 before upgrading to 2008 (I have the upgrade disc). I decided to try out 2004 again as I hadn't used it since 2008 came out. I have to say, Office 04 is SOOO much better than Office 08 that it's not even comparable. The "upgrades" to 08 are so minor and worthless that it comes nowhere close to compensating for the losses in 04. I mainly use Microsoft Excel for work and the new version is literally horrendous. Besides being slow and not having VBA support, the 2008 version no longer has the print preview view (which I loved to use in order to work outside the print screen all the time) and is extremely clunky. 2004 seems much more streamlined and functional and I decided not to upgrade to 2008 again. I REALLY hope the Mac BU can come up with a MUCH better version in the next iteration of office.
