The instructions on Microsoft's rebate form say to turn in the front cover of the "user manual". I have a small manual that fits inside the DVD case called "getting started" but nothing else and certainly not a book with "user manual" printed on it. So... What should be in the retail box?

There is lonely 1 manual in the box...
and that is the "Getting Started" manual. Mail that in, cover only), with a copy of your invoice and your done.

Thant's a bunch. I always read the fine print on those rebate form three times. The smallest mistake is an excuse for them not to send you the rebate. So it looks like a misprint on the form.
