Office 2008 Trial to Retail

A friend and I chipped in to buy a Retail version of Office 2008 for Mac, he bought the retail DVD with 3 install options and has given me the product key, but he has the DVD.

I am unable to convert my trial version to retail with this. Is there a way that I could convert to the retail version without him having to ship the DVD to me?
